In February 2017, 2000 AD celebrated four decades of cutting edge comics at the 40 Years of Thrill-power Festival in London and we are proud to give you a front row seat for panels with some of the best creators in comics today...

Four of the biggest names ever to grace the pages of 2000 AD come together for one unmissable panel. From Mick's early work on Judge Dredd and Sláine, to Alan's incredible writing on Anderson: PSI Division and Judge Dredd, from Dave's groundbreaking work on Dan Dare and Rogue Trooper to Cam’s art on Dredd, The VCs and Rogue, this quartet helped define 2000 AD's earliest days and set it on its path to greatness. Listen to them discuss their groundbreaking work and the industry-shaping careers it launched.

Hello chums! And welcome to the second part of our chat with comics editor Barrie Tomlinson.

If you’ve not listened to episode one, head back now and acquaint yourself with his insights into the lost world of British comics of the 1970s and ‘80s, and then zip right back here to listen to more from one of the most influential editors of the period, where we talk about a horror comic that’s not *too* scary, reviving Dan Dare for a second time, overseeing the decline of Battle and the rise of 2000 AD, and then going freelance...

Barrie Tomlinson isn't one of the names at the forefront of histories of 2000 AD, but his influence on British comics for 30 years cannot be understated and with the archive of Fleetway/IPC now joining the Galaxy's Greatest Comic at Rebellion it's a great time to hear a different perspective on the seminal period of the 1970s and 1980s.

With his uncanny knack for securing celebrity endorsements which saw him rub shoulders with TV and sporting stars alike, Barrie was probably one of the most successful editors in British comics. Not only did he give the hugely popular Roy of the Rovers his own 300,000-selling title, he also relaunched Eagle, and launched titles such as Scream, Speed, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Mask, Ring Raiders and many more. He was group editor for 2000 AD and his hands-off approach allowing Steve MacManus and Richard Burton to guide the comic to the great heights of its 1980s heyday.

In a two-part interview, we talk to Barrie about his work in comics, his unique approach to marketing, and the rise and rise of Roy Race of Melchester Rovers...

Yeehaw, we're off to sunny Texas on the official 2000 AD podcast!

This week, we talk to writer Gordon Rennie about Angelic, his 'origin story' of the notorious Angel Gang - but is this a straight forward re-telling or an alternative history of the South's most evil family?

And as we prepare for the Judge Dredd: Every Empire Falls collection in February, we chat to writer Michael Carroll about continuing the saga in January as Judge Dredd returns to Texas City to deal with the fallout of the attempted coup; plus we discuss national stereotypes, playing in John Wagner's sandpit, and what the Irish do and do not say!
